Karen Henriksen established her own label in 2003, after graduating from the Royal College of Art, and having previously worked in the millinery industry since the 1990s. Presenting both men’s and women’s collections each season, she creates hats that are instantly recognisable. They challenge our ideas of classic styles, yet remain reassuringly familiar, combining timeless elegance with a modern approach.
With every hat made in the London studio (mostly from British fabrics), clients are inspired not only by the
innovation of the design, but by that distinctly comfortable fit only found in handmade items. Not surprisingly, it is these qualities that have led to the hats being stocked at some of the finest fashion stores and specialist boutiques around the world, and have recently attracted the attention of some of the younger members of the Royal Family.
Exhibiting each season at Paris Fashion Week, Karen’s work also receives regular coverage in the UK and international fashion press.
Karen is also a published author (‘Design & Make Hats’ 2009). A practical, detailed and inspiring guide to millinery, it has become a must-have item for every millinery student.
